How do you download DVD Movies in the computer and then transfer to a PSP memery stick duo without a link cable?

Yes, you will need a card reader if you don't have a usb port (or lost the cable).

1. To download the movies you can either rip it from a dvd you own or download it with a P2P server such as Bearshare or Torrents.
2. After downloading the movie you'll have to convert it to MP4 format.
3. Last, place it in the VIDEO folder on the psp.

It's pretty much your call.

As long as people buy DVDs, they'll sell DVDs. BDs are growing in popularity, but they're still distant compared to DVDs. Most people who buy a Blu-Ray player today just get one, while they probably have a bunch of other DVD players in the house (kids, PCs, car, portable, etc).. so there's some value in buying DVDs yet to some people.

Because it's unlikely anyone could sell a BD player that didn't play DVDs, they all pretty much do. That capability isn't going away any time soon, if ever.. in fact, since BD is really a superset of DVD (MPEG-2, AC-3, DTS, PCM, etc. are still supported on BD, so the only cost savings removing DVD would be in the licensing... even the red laser subassembly is so cheap, it's likely lost in the noise floor.

So your investment in DVDs is sound. BD won, and it's moving fast, so I don't think that's a risk (but it was, pretty much, before January, when Toshiba was a competition). If it does ok or totally takes over depends on many things, including how long it is until we have a $25 BD player. I think it's really you call.

I buy most new stuff on BD, but still buy super-cheap and used DVDs for films that I might have rented but wouldn't have bothered with on BD.

It's funny that even films shot on mini-DV camcorders (standard definition), like "28 Days Later" and "Cloverfield" are showing up on Blu-Ray... you don't absolutely need BD for every title. But there are some films I just can't watch in SD anymore...

I am buying a new Sony bravia (32") TV and i want a computer box to sit behind the TV and allow me to use Windows Media Centre to view movies that i have downloaded and rented from the store. I need the specs of a computer that should be able to do that. specifics just need to be in the graphics card and processor. any suggestions on where i can get it would be a plus.

It's not the PC but the video card and (for live TV) the TV tuner card.
Most any dual core processor (Intel or AMD will suffice).

My Media Center PC is an AMD X2 4600+ with 2GB of RAM , 8600GTS card & Hauppauge TV card.
It's hooked up to a 46" Aquos & works flawlessly.

For the video card I would suggest a 9500GT or better.
I like this one because it carries both sound & video over the HDMI cable.

Biff, I had many issues with my satellite tv service at first. Poor reception and a messed up service plan were a couple of my problems. I wound up having to call a different local installer to come out and correct the problems that the original installer made. I want to make a funny dvd as a friend for a present, and I need to inter cut movies with home movies.

You can't edit an AVI file in Final Cut. I use Mactheripper and MPEG streamclip or Handbrake to do the job. Good luck.
