im using an old direct tv satellite that we had for a couple years now and we dont even have the service anymore but the satellite is still there..is using it with a fta program (free to air) such as for example coolsat, pansat, or viewsat, illegal?

Free to air is not Illegal, hacking the codes is.

In order to receive FTA channels you must have a box such as sonic view, coolsat, pansat, ect and attach it to a Dish Network Dish. I am not familiar with using DTV equipment

I'm not looking to sell or distribute in any way, I just would like to have a backup for some of my movies in case they get scratched which they commonly do. I have windows vista and I have a dvd burner, but the anti-copywright on the original dvd won't let me do it. Anyone know how? The more details the better. Thanks!

I want to have access to my recorded TV and Live TV on a TV without having to attach the PC or the satellite reciever to it. If my hub media center PC is attached to the satellite reciever in another room, is my understanding correct that the media center extender will take the satellite Live TV signal it gets streamed from the hub media center PC and transfer it via Wi-Fi or wired ethernet to the Media center extender for enjoyment on an attached TV? Basically I understand that the recorded shows will be accessible by the extender, I just want to confirm that I can also access the live TV broad casts via the hub PC. This is important because I do not have a second satellite receiever to attach to the media center extender for live TV.

I want to buy a new Samsung PC/TV Monitor but i have no idea what cable to buy that allows me to connect my screen to computer?

Since your computer has a VGA jack and the TV you want to get has a VGA jack, you just hook up the two using a standard VGA monitor cable. Can't be any simpler.

I have a dual LNB Direct TV satellite dish, and I also pay extra for HD channels. Yet I did not replace the dish with a new one, and I only recieve about 8 HD channels. I am thinking about buying one online for around $30-50 and installing it myself. I was wondering if I was able to simply switch out the dish, or if I had to call up Direct TV and have them install it.

If you feel comfortable with it there's no reason you can't install the dish. Use the tone and bar offered from the satellite menu to peak the dish for best performance. If you don't feel comfortable call a local dish installer that deals with Direct TV.

I've made DVD copy with DVD-Cloner, and to my surprise, the burnt DVDs have the same video quality as the original DVD movies.

I've been seeking for DVD copy software which can burn two DVD Movies onto one DVD-R/RW DL and split one DVD-9 movie into two DVD-5 discs WITH NO BUGS. I've tried a lot of DVD copy software but always found some problems of usage or video quality. I'm never satisfied until I downloaded DVD-Cloner from www.dvd-cloner.com , so I upload this video as a guidance of making DVD copy for my friends to enjoy. I found a few of quite old movies cant be copied by DVD-Cloner, but most of latest movies can be copied perfectly.

With quite a short time, I make perfect 1:1 DVD copy, movie only copy, customized copy, or Blu-ray copy simply with just three steps:
Step1: Run DVD-Cloner. Select a source DVD and the target path.
Step2: Select a copy mode, and affirm the copy configuration.
Step3: It starts reading and burning the movie.

Hello everyone-I'm Joslyn Davis in Beverly Hills welcoming you to a brand new ClevverTV segment, where we'll help you weigh your options when it comes to watching movies. So here's how it's gonna work-We'll be bringing you older movies that you probably haven't seen before that are absolute must-watch-films! We'll tell you who's it in it, what it's about and why it's so amazing! Of course I'd love to hear from you guys too, so if you have a movie that you think I should suggest, just leave a comment and let me know. The only rule here is that it must have been out on DVD for at least 3 years! That way we know for sure that everyone will be seeing something fresh and new.

For my first DVD pick, we'll have to rewind about 25 years or so ago...but the main chatacter in this film will probably look familiar to you all, because she is currently one of the stars on "The Secret Life of the American Teenager." Her name is Molly Ringwald and WAY back in 1984 she also starred in my alltime favorite movie, "16 Candles!" directed by the late John Hughes For those of you saying to yourself that this movie is probably old and boring, just hear me out!

The story follows Ringwald's character, Sam, on her 16th Birthday. The only problem is that absolutely no one remembers! But, sadly that's just the tip of the iceberg. Poor Sam has to endure more embarrassment than any person ever should, plus her sister's getting married, a foreign exchange student invades her house, the nerdiest guy in school wants to date her, and her crush seems to have no idea she's even alive...

I can't give anymore details away, but I feel like I should also add that Sam's crush in the movie, Jake Ryan, who was played by Michael Schoeffling, is hands down the hottest guy to ever live.

How do you put DVD Movies on the new ipod nano.Can you even put movies from a dvd on it? I just don't want to buy movies from itunes.I have the new ipod nano the one that is small and box-like.Can I put movies from dvd's onto that?

i have a tv tuner but i don't know what to do next.

You can't.

PC Tuners don't work with satellite. The best you can do is connect the sat set-top box output to the video in on your PC, assuming there is a video in.

Direct TV receivers put out 100% digital output and I bought a TV tuner card of my PC that is supposed to be digital and Analog these are the connectors on the card... Coaxial cable input S-Video input and A/V input and audio in mainly what I need to know is how do I hook everything up so that I am still watching digital picture? I have a 22 inch widescreen monitor also that is on digital mode along with the video card.

A DirecTV receiver receives digital satellite signals, but outputs video in analog format (through S-Video, composite, or component). You can use either S-video or composite (yellow video input); S-video is preferred.

Note that a computer monitor's resolution is considerably higher than that of a standard-definition TV broadcast. If you're using 480i, you will notice blocky video. However, if you receive 720p or 1080p high-definition video, it will look noticeably better on your 22" monitor (I assume you're running it at 1680x1050).

The "digital" on your TV tuner refers to the fact that it can receive digital over-the-air broadcasts. The DirecTV receiver does that for you. Thus, you will not be receiving a fully digital picture, but rather a digital picture converted to analog before being sent to your TV tuner.

Recently one of my two Direct tv satellite receivers stopped working. Where's the best/CHEAPEST place to get a new one?
