If you have a modern-day flat-panel HDTV equipped with HDMI, it is directly compatible with PCs that have DVI or HDMI outputs.

If you only have an old obsolete low-definition boob-tube TV, then you will need a signal converter box of some sort that can translate your computer's VGA signal to whatever the TV needs (S-video, composite, etc.), but I would recommend against that-- low-definition boob-tube TVs have terrible image quality and are totally unsuitable for use as computer monitors.

Most older video cards and laptops have s-video (by older i mean pre HDMI)
otherwise there are plenty of adapters out there for this purpose.

Check the PC. If it is a laptop, it may have either an RCA or an S-Video output. That can be connected to the RCA video input for your TV. If it is a desktop, you will probably have to purchase a TV tuner or capture card. The card will have either an S-Video or RCA output.

If your TV does not have a VGS input, then even if you could connect it with some kind of an adapter, the picture you would get would be so fuzzy and distorted that it would not be watchable. There are too many difference between VGA and "TV" standards.
