Connecting a satellite TV receiver to a computer makes it possible to access movies on demand and other instant features from the satellite company.

Satellite TV receivers can be configured for connecting to the Internet by pressing a few buttons on the remote control.

Things You'll Need: Ethernet cables, Router, Computer with Ethernet port, Modem with Internet connection

1. Plug an Ethernet cable from the port on the back of the satellite TV receiver to a port on the router. The plugs insert in the ports with the locking tab turned upward.

2. Connect a second Ethernet cable from another port on the router to a port on the computer.

3. Turn on the equipment and press the "Menu" button on the satellite TV receiver or remote control, then use the down arrow key to select "Settings" and "Network Settings."

4. Highlight "Broadband Settings" with the down arrow key and press "Enter."

5. Select the name of the Internet connection for the building where the satellite receiver is located and press "Enter."
