@flixor123456789 Not necessarily. People with regular TV’s cant just go ahead and plug a hdmi cable and expect it to work. It needs a converter for the Tv to recognize the VGA.

Right now I have an Svideo connection from my graphics card to my CRT tv. The resolution is only 800 x 600. I was wondering if this would allow me to use a higher resolution on my TV, or is it still only 800 x 600?

How is the vsync?

I always find it easier to right-click on the desktop, go to properties and adjust the display properties. I don’t know what operating system your using so it might be slightly different, but the point is that there is always another way than just using the hot key.

No – there is a passive cable if your PC is tv-out capable which is a lot cheaper. This converter costs a little bit more because it actually translates the video output to a tv-compatible signal.

The devices comes …
The devices comes with all the cords you need except the audio cable which you have to buy separately – if you just have a regular headphone jack you want a 3.5mm stereo cable. If you have digital output (Toslink, etc.) you will want to get one of those cables.
The quality is decent, but if you really care about HD-quality you should go a step up with a VGA to HDMI converter.

Most desktops do still have the FN key, but that is really just a shortcut. The other way to activate or change your monitor settings is to right-click on your desktop and go to properties (you can also do this in the control panel).

Yes, exactly – the ones on ebay don’t tell you but they are basically designed to connect to a D-SUB port as opposed to a VGA port – they look the same but they aren’t. Most people need an active converter like this.

Just right-click on the desktop, go to settings and go customize your displays (I don’t know what OS you’re using, but it shoudl be fairly intuitive once you get in there). That’s another way to activate the monitor.
