3Why not to buy
By Dancer99
I purchased the VIP 211k receiver and find that Dish Network charges the same $7 per month fee whether you own or rent the receiver from them. So, in fact, it costs way more to own a receiver. Seems strange since I had hoped to save the per month fee by owning. The receiver is fine - easy to setup (you need to call Dish Network to activate). Picture and sound are good.

3Good Product but Does not save Money
By whistledow
I purchased this thinking it would save the $7 per month rental fee on DISH Network. Unfortunately, you still end up paying a $7 per month access fee. Why buy when you may get it for free from DISH? Crazy. I am planning to send it back and get one for free from DISH Network. Product does what it claims.

5An Improvement over ViP 211
By J. M. Ritter
This ViP 211k is very nice. It has a good deal of improvemnts to basic features such as the remote sensor on it is very wide and it lights up saying HDTV but that's not all the main improvment is how it locks in on HDTV signals quickly without hesitation different from the old ViP 211. Not to mention that it's more compact and might have more memory in it. Basically it's a very nice reciever from Dish Network. "The Leader in Satellite and HDTV" :)

Satellite Direct Software

by on May.26, 2011, under Uncategorized

What is Satellite TV for PC and does it actually work is a question I see a lot online. Both are splendid questions that is worthy of honorable answers so people may be educated regarding the product and determine if it meets their needs.

Satellite TV for PC is a software application that was produced over 7 years ago to develop a user friendly program to access legally thousands of television channels broadcasted online so users may watch on their computer with no per month fees.

As technology advances and bandwidth becomes for less such as DSL, Cable and Fiber humans are now competent to have very high speed Internet access into their homes for a fraction of the cost various years ago. This opens up the doors to being competent to do so much online such as watch full motion video over the Internet.

Many broadcast companies and independent channels see the probabilities of broadcasting live channels online resulting in a new wave of amusement available to humans with Internet access. Today there are thousands of television channels online from major networks to local public channels. Being competent to search the Internet and find all these channels would consume a huge amount of time and candidly just be a huge pain in the butt.

This is where Satellite PC services in truth help. These services categorize television channels by country. You may also do a search if you recognise the channel you are looking for. This is very helpful and makes locating channels a breeze.

You may be thinking this all sounds great but does it actually work? Yes it does but don't suppose HD quality. I see numerous advertisements comparing Satellite TV for PC services to regular cable TV. I personally am not going to give up my DirecTV rather yet but it genuinely works well to catch a sporting event or show that your local cable company does not carry.

I personally use Satellite TV for PC services to watch breaking news and soccer games while at work. No I am not watching TV all day but I do like to watch for the duration of lunch or breaks to catch local news or sports highlights off ESPN. It will work great for this summer's 2008 Olympics.

So to answer your question yes it works. You genuinely do get access to around 3000 channels. Is the quality as good as HD - no but some channels are very close. If you are looking for a way to catch sporting events, TV shows and news online then I would say this product is for you. If you are looking to replace your current satellite or cable provider this is not the way to go. The bottom line is for just $49 you get access to thousands of television channels and never have to compensate any further and added fees ever making it an magnificent product for many.

3No driver for Windows 7
By shameless libertarian
As far as I was capable to tell, the firmware/driver required to program this product for a queer head end is not compatible with Windows 7 (64 bit). The programming _tool_ downloaded and installed just fine, but the hardware itself was not recognized when plugged into a USB port.

No idea how this works once it's installed, but I couldn't get past step one with the operating scheme I'm using.

2Very annoying host; mediocre show.
By book_nerd
The manufacturers have managed to make what could be a great show, into a mediocre yawn-fest. The self-serving host, Sean Riley comes throughout like a narcissistic douche! He inserts himself into each situation, calls it a tight spot, then takes credit for coming to the rescue. Watch the reactions from the actual workers, exceptionally when they say "thanks for your help, we couldn't have done it without you" -- you may tell he did practically nothing, and was just in the way.

Satellite Direct Phone Number

Communication plays a critical portion in today's world. In all walks of life from day to day business to crisis management situations we require the capacity to make contact with others who may be just minutes away or all over the other side of the world. We now take the capacity to pick up a phone and talk to someone for granted.

Over the last 20 years we have started to become more and more intimate with satellite technology as it plays it is percentage in supplying us with television and navigation in our vehicles and mobile phones.

Satellite engineering science likewise now plays a critical role in communicating in remote locations.

The world is a huge place and on occasion popular mobile phone engineering science isn't sufficient due to a lack of cell masts in the area of transmission. This is true in areas such as deserts, jungles or at sea. This is where satellite phones come into their own.

Unlike standard mobile phones, Satellite phones commune using a number of satellites that orbit the earth. They pass signals amongst each other to see to it that communicating may reach the recipient widgets on the ground. It is still important, however, that the satellite phone handsets have a direct line of sight to the satellite. This means that use of the handsets in a dense area, such as a city centre with tall skyscrapers, or underground use such as a cave is often times restricted. A break in the line of sight to the satellite may mean that the voice signal may become distorted or even broken.

Satellite phones have evolved somewhat in the last 20 years. The primary phones were introduced in the 90's and often times found to be problematic. Since then the two satellite operators, Iridium and Globalstar have built up a client base of over 180,000 clients.

So, in summary the greatest divergence amongst the satellite phone and the mobile phone is the infrastructure that they operate on. Rather than using cell masts divided by comparatively little deviations the Satellite phones commune directly with the network of Satellites that orbit the world around 48,000km above the earth.

5Excellent, well priced phone system
By M. Dwyer
I got this to replace a Vtech phone that I'd had for 5 years. The Vtech was fine till I had to place it in my computer room to use the speaker phone and all of a sudden the range for both the wireless and the phones themselves dropped dramatically and the phone had a lot of noise. These phones (I'm using 5 through the answering machine base) have much better range, don't interfere with the wireless, use standard NiMH AAA batteries. The base is right next to the microwave and it has no difficulties since the phones use the DECT frequency. I don't recognise if the talk time as as long as they promised but it's surely longer than the 1-2 hrs. from the Vtech. The phones have big buttons that are easy to use (unlike the Vtech), a nice uncluttered screen, easy to program and easy to use functions. Consumer Reports rated it a best buy and after using it for a while I totally agree.

1Phone was defective in two ways.

After a few weeks use, phone garbled incoming voice mail so they were unintelligible and the display on one handset went dead. These breakdowns occurred at discerned times so appear to be unrelated. Seller (6ave) would not honor Amazon's return policy even altho my funds were remunerated to Amazon. Amazon's policy would have permitted an interchange but now this must be dealt with through Panasonic's warranty.

Disappointed in both the phone and the vender 6ave.

Unless you're building a baseball diamond in the middle of nowhere, the "If you build it they will come" principle merely will not work for your home business or online store. Driving clients to your store and visitors to your Website are necessary keys to your success. This article explores some new and old ways of marketing your company. Let's get started with Satellite TV.

Satellite TV: Halfway out with the old and partway in with the new

Advertising on satellite or cable TV is surely not an old approach, but the conception of selling your company on TV is surely not a new approach either. One thing that satellite TV or cable does have to offer is lower prices on promotion than established television stations. Because of the sheer number of stations offered on both platforms, you may also find that you may cater to a more purposed audience. For example, let's say you trade discount fishing furnishes online - you may be sure that the viewers looking at your spot on the Outdoors Network are on intermediate far more fascinated in what you have to offer than those who see your spot for the duration of a makeover show. Don't throw out TV advertising as an option; compare prices and see if you may make it work for you.

Optimize Your Website for Search Engines

Online advert opens up venues for syndication your home or online business that are ten times more aimed than satellite TV advertising. If done properly, your Website could appear on the primary page of Google or Yahoo whenever somebody searches for the keywords that describe your company. The best percentage is, besides the time, work, and resources you pour into optimizing your Website, this merchandising method is wholly free. There are plentiful resources online to help you get started, as well as masters and firms that specialize in online merchandising solutions.

What if each client only cost 10 cents?

Pay-per-click marketing, also normally referred to as search engine marketing, involves you placing ads on a search engine that will appear each time somebody searches a keyword you choose. If that person sees your ad and clicks on it, you pay Google 10 cents, or notwithstanding much you are bidding. The top spot normally goes to the most eminent bidder. That means that in as little as 20 minutes, your online TV instrumentation store could appear at the top of the list when somebody searches for "Satellite TV" in Yahoo. This is a cost-effective method that has been proven in the past to drive aimed traffic to Websites.

Everybody loves getting a letter...

Even in the day and age of satellite TV and radio, cell phones little than credit cards, and truckloads of data journeying through the Internet each day, you ought to not discount the effectiveness of mailing a postcard or advertising through "Snail Mail." Compared to the purposed advert of pay-per-click and search engine optimization, mailings may seem like a waste of cash and time. But besides potential clients and clients you may acquire from the postcards, you likewise receive intangible gains that are worth considering. A professional advertizing will do wonders in increasing your name acknowledgement of the community amidst which you intend to do business. Name acknowledgement is necessary for viral retail proficiencies which rely to a considerable degree on word-of-mouth. This method is perhaps most effective for those home businesses that work within a fixed geographic area.

So, do you want to go out this Friday?

Consider establishing working partnerships with complementary little businesses like yourself. If you trade picture frames, get together with a local photographer and invent an confederacy that both of you may gain from. Even something as simple as putting each other's business cards in an accessible place may support fabricate business for you that you don't already have.

Owning a home or little business is hard - making your home business succeed demands even more of you. The market favors proactive business owners who know who their target clients are and who do what it takes to fetch them in. Using a hybrid selling approach of new and old proficiencies may concede you to reach clients just waiting to do business with you.

5Excellent single reference for high-speed internet access...
By Thomas Duff
If you're looking for a book to explain the array of choices when it comes to high-speed internet access, get a copy of the book Broadband Bible Desktop Edition by James E. Gaskin (Wiley). This is a genuinely good book...

Chapter list: Why You Need Broadband Internet Access; Getting Familiar with Broadband Technology; Types of Broadband Providers; Types of Alternative Broadband Providers; Emerging Broadband Service Options; Pros and Cons: Choosing Your Best Broadband Option; Understanding Computer Security; Examining Your Home Broadband Hookup; Examining the Multitenant Broadband Hookup; Server and Storage Options; What You Need To Know About Desktop Networking; What You Need to Know About TCP/IP Networks and Routing; Backup and Disaster Recovery; Wired Connection Options; Wireless Connection Options; Wireless Security in Depth; Avoiding Wireless Eavesdropping and Hacking; Troubleshooting Internet Access Problems; Troubleshooting Your Side of the Connection; Quick Hits Roundup; Additional Web Directory Listings; Broadband, Internet, and Networking Definitions; Index

If you haven't yet made the jump to broadband internet access, you may be confused over all the choices and terminology. Cable vs. DSL? Home networking? Routers? Gaskin does an splendid occupation in this book to explain everything you need to recognise to make the move. The flow of the book is well-done, in that it moves from "why do you need broadband" to "here's how you determine which option is best". Even for those of us who have had broadband for awhile, it's a good read to catch up on a great deal of other choices that are getting more viable, such as broadband over power lines. The writing is clear and concise, without falling into endless jargon that defies the reader to comprehend it.

This book would have helped me out immensely when I made the jump from a slower DSL line to 3MB cable internet access. Since we have a number of computers in the home, I wasn't rather sure how to make sure I did and purchased the right things to grant me to get them all to access the internet. Although I ended up being successful at the whole setup, there was a lot of fear and trepidation on my part. With Gaskin's book, I would have been much more convinced up front. Even now, there's some info in here that will aid me debug an issue I'm having with communicating amongst two of the computers.

For a single source of understandable selective information on moving to high-speed internet access, you won't go wrong with this book. Highly recommended.

Internet communications bandwidth requirements carry on to grow at when it comes to 50% annually. The demand for Broadband Internet by satellite has been growing so fast, that WildBlue has stopped taking orders in constituents of the United States.

The demand is likely to grow at a quicker rate in the near-term. HDTV signals require 4-5 times as much bandwidth for transmission as usual definition video, even with sophisticated MPEG-4 encoding. By 2010, forecasts call for 80-90% of all Internet traffic to be video transfer.

There are presently over 600,000 satellite Internet subscribers in North America, ordinarily in the more remote areas where broadband Internet is other than as supposed or expected unavailable. Both times a new Internet satellite has launched, a huge increase in satellite Internet subscribers has followed, but within a few months, capacity was sold out in key geographic areas, capping subscriber growth.

Current satellite systems aren't designed for the high bandwidth apps that persons demand, such as HDTV, graphics, VoIP, and peer-to-peer networking.

  • "It does not have to be that way. Day to day buyer Internet interactions involving high-bandwidth activenesses like video and multimedia were not percentage of the plans when earlier satellite services were designed. We are aiming to give buyers a vastly bettered experience based on the most modern technology on the market. These new capablenesses are not only technologically very feasible, they're likewise affordable," said Mark Dankberg, CEO ViaSat.
  • ViaSat has plans to address the demand. ViaSat-1 is scheduled for launch in 2011. The amount of bandwidth enabled by ViaSat-1, equipped with ViaSat's "SurfBeam" networking system, is unparalleled. Total throughput is designed to be over 100 Gigabits per second, which is more capacity than the current North American fleet of two-way Ka, C and Ku band combined. ViaSat-1 will have to primarily improve the quality, capability and availability of high-speed Internet satellite services for U.S. and Canadian consumers.

In 2010, Ka-Sat will launch a satellite to provide similar service in Europe.

The new satellites will also be used to provide Internet services, TV (including HDTV), mobile Internet, and defense satellite communications. By 2010, 60% of TV receivers will use a Satellite signal, up from 15% in 2002. ViaSat terminals use a networking engineering that uses satellite bandwidth more efficiently, called DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specifications), letting down the cost of Internet service to consumers. The terminals include satellite modems and Ka band transceivers. The high allround of ViaSat-1 makes it idealisti for transmitting new video apps calling for ultra high bit rates such as HDTV, HD digital cinema, and 3D TV.

DOCSIS likewise includes technology that addresses rain fade, a reduction in signal strength caused by heavy rain. The ViaSat system mechanically responds to rain fade with uplink power control and adaptive selective information coding techniques.

ViaSat-1 and Ka-Sat will offer 10 to 15 times the capacity of Ku band satellites through frequency reuse by using a technology called "spotbeams". Spotbeams are like a searchlight. Instead of sending a signal throughout the continent, spotbeams focus a signal on an area 50-100 miles in radius. Since the frequency is concentered on a fixed area, the same frequency spectrum may be reused for a dissimilar locale.

Median DSL speed in the U.S. is 768 KBPS. Median Internet speed over cable is in regards to 4.5 MBPS. ViaSat-1 will price a basic service at 2 MBPS, raising satellite to regarding the 80th percentile of DSL. Premium plans would effortlessly surpass the best DSL service, and put satellite well above the current median for cable.

Eutelsat will position Ka-Sat in the same satellite neighborhood as three existent Hotbird Ku-band satellites at 13 degrees East. By positioning Ka-Sat with these broadcast satellites they will be competent to bundle broadcast and broadband services. Consumers in Europe will be capable to receive TV in the Ku-band and receive and transmit broadband services in the Ka-band through a single dual-frequency antenna.

ViaSat-1 involves a collaborative effort amongst ViaSat, Loral, TeleSat, and Eutelsat. Eutelsat Communications is the keeping company of Eutelsat S.A. With a current 24 satellites that serve European continent, as well as the Middle East, Africa, India and significant parts of Asia and the Americas, Eutelsat is one of the world's three leading satellite operators in terms of revenues. Eutelsat's satellites broadcast over 2,700 television channels, of which more than 1,000 channels broadcast from it is HOT BIRD satellite which serves over 120 million cable and satellite homes in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.

Loral was chosen to build the ViaSat-1 high capacity broadband satellite. Loral is laying out capital in the Canadian coverage part of the satellite in anticipation of Telesat Canada (which is 64 percent owned by Loral) utilizing the capacity for Canadian services. The satellite is planned for Telesat's 115 West longitude orbital slot and Telesat will also provide telemetry, tracking & control (TT&C) operations for the satellite.

    Satellite Television

by on May.26, 2011, under Uncategorized

Here is a great deal of data with regards to satellite TV.

Satellite television or satellite TV is television delivered by way of orbiting communications satellites located 37,000 km above the earth's surface.

The initial satellite TV signal was relayed from Europe to the Telstar satellite over North America in 1962. The introductory domestic North American satellite to carry television was Canada's Anik 1, which was launched in 1973.

Satellite TV, like other communications relayed by satellite, starts with a transmitting satellite antenna located at an uplink facility. Uplink satellite dishes are directed toward the satellite that it is signals will be transmitted to, and are very large, as much as 9 to 12 meters (30 to 40 feet) in diameter. The more spectacular the satellite dish, the more precise positioning and bettered signal reception at the satellite. The satellite TV signals is transmitted to appliances located on-board the satellite called transponders, which retransmit the satellite signal back towards the Earth at a dissimilar frequency.

The satellite signal, rather weak after traveling through space, is accumulated by a parabolic receiving dish, which reflects the weak signal to the dish's focal point and is received, down-converted to a lower frequency band and amplified by a device called a low-noise block down converter, or LNB.

A new form of satellite antenna, which does not use a directed parabolic dish and may be employed on a mobile platform such as a vehicle, was not long ago declared by the University of Waterloo. On ordinarily known as car satellite system.

The satellite TV signal, now amplified, travels to a satellite TV receiver box through coaxial cable (RG-6 or RG-10; cannot be popular RG-59) and is converted by a local oscillator to the L-band range of frequencies (approximately). Special on-board electronics in the receiver box aid tune the signal and then convert it to a frequency that a frequent television may use.

As you known, satellite TV business in United States are primarily overshadowed by two companies, Dish Network and DirecTV. If you would like to have a satellite TV in your home, your selections are largely fixed to the free satellite TV packages that offered by either one Dish Network or DirecTV.

Here's a quick view on United States satellite TV industry: Hughes's DirecTV, the original high-powered DBS system, went online in 1994 and was the primary North American DBS service. In 1996, Echostar's Dish Network went online in the United States and has gone on to similar success.

It's a will have to read for anybody who wants to recognise the finer details of television technology. 1Incompatible with single receiver systems
    By A. Koeller
Nowhere in the description or packaging does it say that this antenna requires a satellite multiswitch. A multiswitch is used for schemes using more than 1 TV/receiver. The antenna amplification comes from the satellite multiswitch, and without amplification, this antenna is no better than a pair of simple rabbit ears.

This antenna may work great for those with multi-room satellite setups, but it was despicable for me.

    1Horrible HDTV Antenna
    By C. Maner
This antenna was a immense waste of money. It did not do any of the things advertised on Amazon.com or Terk.com. I could only hardly receive 1 station and that picture was very poor quality. I may get 3 channels with rabbit ears and they are much better quality. It also significantly reduced, 10-15%, the signal reception on all 3 satellite LNB's. I would strongly commend looking elsewhere for an HDTV antenna. This poor quality device added to the poor quality of DirecTV in ordinary makes me wish daily that I had stayed with Cable TV.

"All About TV" and later called "World:Comm" was a television series that ran on WNET-Channel 13 in New York City between 1992 and 1995. The series was executive produced by the television critic Steven H. Scheuer and Loomis Irish, Head of the Television and Radio Department at Brooklyn College.

Scheuer is a renowned film and television historian who in 2007 co-author with his wife Alida Brill Scheuer, the "Pocket Guide to Collecting Movies on DVD" a title that was subsequently released as a Sony e-book. Among his many other writings, Scheuer edited "Movies on TV" (originally titled "TV Movie Almanac & Ratings") which was published in 17 editions between 1958 and 1993 and was the first highly regarded large scale film review almanac.

Over a 4-year period more than 200 episodes of this series were produced with hundreds of panelists, including Dan Rather and Mike Wallace. This two DVD set selects ten of the best episodes from "All About TV" and "World:Comm" series.

Anyone interested in the evolving history of television will find these programs fascinating. They also provide a rich source of material for television and media historians.
