Fantastic Deal!!!

I ordered the Map Library along with my PN-40 unit. This map library was one of the deal-makers that led to my buying the DeLorme GPSr. I principally use the aerial images and the 1:24k topo quads. The color images for my area look to have been taken a couple of years ago, while the b&w's look regarding 6-7 years old. This will vary by geographic area. You may layer the maps in any order, and view hybrids with the Topo 7 info over the aerial (or whichever view you choose).

This annual subscription is just an unbelievable deal. The downloads I've made already would cost hundreds (going on thousands) of dollars if I purchased the maps individually.

The best value in mapping software, bar none!

I have employed DeLorme TopoUSA merchandise for going on a decade now, so I have a large total of experience with it from it's earlier days as a pioneering product in the buyer digital mapping field. Once I "got the hang of it", it's been an primary tool in the backcountry. Hook a GPS to the laptop, load up the DeLorme mapping software, and you get a dot on the map at the precise emplacement you are at. During my backcountry adventures, I've found jeep trails using DeLorme mapping software that I couldn't even see on the ground due to terrain conditions, nighttime, etc. The added gain of handheld mapping GPS units from DeLorme has only made their mapping merchandise even more useful. Maps downloaded through this subscription may likewise be downloaded into DeLorme's handheld gps units.

After that, it's all automatic. I have not experienced, on either of my computers, the types of troubles others have had, so I may only suggest that the cause of their difficulties might be more due to their queer network issues rather than troubles with the software itself. What's more, I've learned that one may likewise copy map files from one computer to another, therefore I only need to download the maps one time to one computer, then I may transfer them effortlessly to the other computer as well. Additionally, when one of my computers "crashed" and necessitated to be restored, I had to have the keycode reactivated on that computer through DeLorme's client service line, which was handled by DeLorme's UNITED STATES BASED SUPPORT PEOPLE in mere minutes.

A outstanding idea: limitless download of USGS Topo Qads, NOAA nautical charts, aerial imagery. And everything will be visible on the computer screen as well as on the handheld GPS unit. The problem is: Delorme makes each effort to prevent the valued client from downloading their cherished data. The selection routine of maps to download is slow and tedious through their "flagship" software "TopUSA 8". Once after dozends of clicks the greatest or most complete or best possible download size of when it comes to 50 MB is chosen (corresponding to a 1000sqm area), one has to wait 20 minutes for an email with a download link to arrive. The download itself is painstakingly slow and crashes half of the time (this does not have to do with my connection speed). So be prepared to spend days and days clicking through menues and waiting and discouraging and hindering if you want to get a lot of of your money's worth on this product...

Do your research

I actually believe that anybody giving this a negative or low review of this product never troubled to find out what type of antenna they necessitated for their specific location. Best antenna on the market for digital reception

The DB4 was the firmest antenna I have tried. It is also the only one that receives each digital station at closely 40 miles from the Kansas City stations, (and my signal meter pegged.) I was even competent to pick up a few out of area stations I was not expecting. The build quality is better than anything else I have seen.

Not that bad

Our home is located down in a valley where it is out of the question to get any local stations in - amount of time - so please bare that in mind as you read our review. Usually, homes around us have either digital cable or satellite service. We have found the multi directional HDTV antenna does pick up stations distinctly for the most part. However, for reasons we can't figure out at this time the signals come and go each so often - even on cloudless days. But, you get what you compensate for. We are happy to be free of the cable bill of $65 a month for very basic cable or the foolish service we had with a horrid satellite company who robbed us blind with poor quality service. Thankfully, we have netflix when the antenna can't pick up the stations. We would, however, commend buy of this mutli directional HDTV antenna. We've tried others in the past and have gotten no signal whatsoever - so this is a great improvement. We would estimate a clear signal/sharp picture 90% of the time. I'm sure in time we'll figure out how to keep the sharp picture uninterrupted - save for the duration of bad storms when signals are expected to be lost.

No driver for Windows 7

As far as I was capable to tell, the firmware/driver required to program this product for a queer head end is not compatible with Windows 7 (64 bit). The programming _tool_ downloaded and installed just fine, but the hardware itself was not recognized when plugged into a USB port.

No idea how this works once it's installed, but I couldn't get past step one with the operating scheme I'm using.

Clarion WH204 IR Headphones

THIS PRODUCT WORKS EXCELLENT, NICE BUY. Even altho these were a little more cash then what I wanted to spend it was well worth the money. I recieved them plugged to AAA bateries and sat in front of the newly installed Tview roof mounted DVD player in my van and this works, no set up and simple for the kids to operate. My only concern is the volume control I don't have control of this, the kids do, just worried they may injure their ears. Took the kiddies for a trip no fighting and I could listen whatsoever I wanted to on the radio.

While these Clarion IR headphones are made for use in an automobile, they work evenly as well in the home when used with a simple IR transmitter, and the sound is very clear with no hissing or distortion. They are made to applied on two channels and channel A works fine in the home. I use an IR transmitter that I purchased from Koss and their transmitters are by far the best. For the cash paid, these headphones can't be beat!

The charger is actually better than the firstborn charger except for one thing...

The substitute charger arrived speedily but I never deduct stars if the product arrives late as long as it arrives in one piece which it did.

The reason I necessitated another charger was because my wire in my basi Toshiba Charger had come open and genuinely set numerous sparks off and burned itself for the duration of spanish class one day.

1. The jack is L shaped.

2. The power supply share of the this charger is lighter than my initial one by at least 1/3. I think this is actually a good thing just for the lighter bulk to carry with me.

3. The power supply does not get very hot at all equated to my original charger which would at least get to 100 degrees plus and always felt like it was going to fry itself one day (which it did). I believe this charger is going to last me a long time. When I say this charger is hardly hot, I in a literal sense mean it, the temperature of the power supply pack is only in regards to 80 degrees. I took this temperature when it was charging my laptop for 8 hours continuously. There is no alter in temperature.

4. It's very well constructed it is built to last, it is not one of those in truth cheap chinese fictitious electronic goods. (I'm Asian just so that you don't think i'm racist of something) just attempting to relate.

5. The only con to the charger is the portion where you plug the cord into the power supply and to the wall there is something weird in regards to how it was made. This is genuinely hard to explain but try to bear with me. The cord that plugs into the wall and the power supply pack that plug-in percentage to the supply pack for a lot of reason does not let you plug the cord in all the way into the power supply because it is like the manufacturer didnt' cut the cord down all the way for you to plug it all the way in. I am presently using my old power cord for this charger which works just fine, but just pointing that out.

In conclusion, the price is very unbeatable and this will last you sometime as long as you don't throw it out a window or use it to commence a fire. The only complaint I had is the power cord strip. Works on my Toshiba Satellite M305-S4910

My Toshiba Satellite M305-S4910 charger gave out after less than a year, I had in the first place purchased a Rocketfish RF-PRACDC Travel Laptop Power Adapter but it did not charge my laptop as it was never a snug fit to adequately charge it. I decisive to give this one a probability and it works just like the firstborn charger and has a very snug fit. Its the same size as the primary but just so you know it is a three pronged not a two prong, as my old charger. Its just a long as the older one and a bit thicker on the cord.

My two toshibas will run on this cord, but will not charge battery!

I have two Toshiba laptops which were dissimilar models, but the power cords were interchangeable. I purchased this cord as a replacement. The price was great, but it only partially works. At original I was pleased because it seemed to work, but after sever hours of being plugged in with the new cord my laptop battery was still not charged. I thought it odd, so I rebooted and tried it again. It still did not work. I then tried in on my wife's toshiba as well and the same thing happened. It gives power to the computer, but the battery won't charge. What good it is actually if you can't charge the battery? PS- I've tried charging the laptops with the power off and it still doesn't work. You'd be better off going with a dissimilar product!

EDIT: ac adapter started smoking and case deformed from heat! This was after only one week. This could have been bad. Thankfully my wife was home and smelled the smoke- this could have without apparent effort been a fire!

Couldn't be happier

This little unit is a great item. I purchased it for two reasons, first, it is plug-n-play, and second, it offers ala-carte selections.

What is ala-carte? For a for less on a monthly basis satellite bill, you may select up to 50 channels (minus the premium channels). I went for it, and actually was struggling to find 50 channels I liked. Other channels such as Margaritaville are indicated as premium, so they are a little add on cost. But all in all, suppose to pay from 60% to 75% for the ala-carte cost than the full package.

Admittedly the ala-carte price has risen over the years, but it is still for less than the full package.

I use this unit in 4 locations; which required the buy of a couple of docking stations.

My boat. I have an Alpine iDA-x100 head unit with a compatible satellite interface so I may use this unit on the boat. Since the Starmate 5 is controlled by the head unit, the logical choice was to mount it inside a hanging locker in the rear cabin so it was out of the way. The unit hangs on the locker's wall; safe and secure. And the unit is locked onto the docking station. Depressing the docking station release, and the unit pops off.

My car. I also have a docking station in the car, so it may be plugged into the car's stereo system. You genuinely need an upgraded stereo scheme for this, as an FM modulator is not a good substitute - no matter of whether you are attempting to listen to an iPod, satellite receiver, or any other audio device. Ironically, I already have a factory XM satellite receiver in my car, which I applied for awhile. But for billing purposes, Sirius and XM are still considered distinguished companies, so you do not get a multi-unit discount if you have one Sirius and one XM unit.

And I have found that the car's XM receiver, due to the geosynchronous satellite orbits, is prone to dropouts when you do not have a clear sky, such as driving behind a hill, in a city with nearby huge buildings, or even a tree-lined boulevard.

Consequently, Sirius uses 3 polar orbiting satellites, and one of them is always in the neighborhood, which results in less dropouts. You may still get a dropout or two with a Sirius system, for instance you are downtown with high buildings, you may lose signal. But it is much less of a problem than XM as one of the satellites is in general at a higher overhead angle.

Perhaps the most difficult decision in the car is where to mount the satellite unit. I use a RAM-Mount cup holder setup which works great. Since the use in the car is temporary (when the unit is not home or in the boat), I merely pop the mount in the cup holder and plug the wires in when needed. This also allows me to without apparent effort and quickly remove the system when I park the car so it is not tempting to thieves.

Fortunately, my car has a set of RCA level aux inputs - conveniently concealed in the arm rest, so I may connect the Starmate to those and the cables are not hardly noticeable. But since I remove the whole shebang when not being used, this is not an issue.

Installing the antenna and docking station in the car was not even as hard as installing a car stereo. You do need a lot of basic skills, and may need to figure out how to remove a panel or two along the way. But it is not difficult.

My home. I likewise have a home docking station that I may use the Starmate to listen to satellite at home. I even purchased the remote antenna setup to attach to my house exterior. Good and bad.....

I have been a subscriber to Sirius for rather a long time, before Howard Stern jumped aboard. I have had the same radio for that time, the Sirius Sportster replay. Recently, the lights on the radio went out, so I looked to replace it. I came throughout this radio, liked the way it looked, so I purchased it. Well, I have mixed sensations in regards to it. I use the radio in 2 vehicles, one being a work truck. The Starmate 5 works great in my car, due to the use of the Aux input on the Starmate and my car's stereo. No noise, static.. crystal clear and wonderful. The issue I have is with the FM transmitter. When in my work truck, I need to use the FM transmitter. Well, this is a problem. On my old Sportster Replay, the FM transmitter was great... had no static on the FM station. Now, with the Starmate, I listen alot of background noise and static. Transmitter is weak, to say the least. I have tried multiple FM stations and have had no luck in silencing the noise. So, if you plan on using the aux input in your car with the Starmate, it works like a dream. Just be wary of the fact that the FM transmitter is weak, and you will listen noise over the FM station.

Way better than FM radio

I have had my Sirius radio for almost 5 years now , and mind you it is the same one. I was in a car accident and the car was totaled . I pulled out my Starmate and plugged it in to my home unit and it worked fine. Listen, if you buy this unit be prepared to compensate for a subscription in which you get the full package of channels, do not buy just the discounted package or else you will become frustrated, disapponited and miss out on some outstanding programming. Oldies music, 70's , 80's old school , top 20, Elvis, Sinatra and anything else in between. The reception on the radio is almost CD quality and seldom do you loose a signal unless you drive into a garage or tunnel . Even in heavy rain and clouds commonly you have outstanding reception. I've even drove from Oklahoma to Canada and the radio did not miss a beat. There are likewise dissimilar items you may buy such as a home docking kit and boombox to have more choices in regards to where you want to listen your radio. Sirius even goes further to have online control where you may listen the stream of music over the internet wherever you have an internet connection. The fee is regarding 3 extra bucks or so a month. works but don't suppose miracles

Bought a TV Ears and ran into that it wouldn't work with my LCD TV. So found the Clarity after substantial search. The descriptions sounded so good I got one for myself, and one for my father-in-law. We both have the hearing loss problem best characterized by being unable to grasp the words even when the volume is up. The tone controls on this unit support a little, but it's still a problem with clarity. If you're looking for the clarity of a digital phone, my "Clarity" doesn't provide it. If you want a unit that lets you turn up the sound in your ears without blasting the family with volume increase at the TV set, this is a winner. And yes, this one works with LCD big screens!

I got this for my Father for when he comes over. He employed to come over to stay with us which was great until we had to watch TV. We thought we were at a rock concert. He has a similar head set at home but I wasn't impressed. Worked ok but never in truth got the sound of the head set to work for when you turned it up the sound was distorted so was looking for a better quality head set and found it.

Using this unit, I need not raise the volume of LCD HDTV set to remunerate for the slight loss of my high-frequency hearing abilities.
