Watching my satellite tv on my laptop?
I’ve googled and googled and I still don’t understand tv tuner cards. I have a media center 2005 notebook and I have Dish Network satellite with all the channels in my home. I’m hooked up on a wireless dsl connection to the internet (not that my internet has anything to do with this, but thought I’d mention it)
Is there a tv tuner card out there, and possibly other needed hardware/software that will enable me to watch my satellite tv on my laptop? Can I watch the encrypted channels that I pay for? Can I watch a different channel than the one being watched on the tv, with maybe a dual tuner card? All wirelessly, of course.
I’m not trying to get anything FREE. I’m only interested in watching the sat tv that I pay for and in watching it in my own home, like maybe the backyard, for example, and/or watching a different station than my husband.
Can someone explain the possiblilites/limitations of tv tuner cards or point me to a link that will explain all of this?

Leadtek has those external USB TV tuners like this one: http://www.ultrapro.ro/AfiseazaProdus.jsp?cat_id=1935&pr_id=32928
Or you can try Pinnacle external TV tuners: http://www.ultrapro.ro/AfiseazaProdus.jsp?cat_id=1935&pr_id=34063
You just plug in the receiver into the TV tuner and that’s it.

TV tuner card is a hardware connected to your pc via pci slot,, then you just connect your antenna to this card in its RF socket,, then you can now watch your tv channel but not your satellite channel,,,to view your satellite channel,, you have to connect your satellite reciever to your dish cable,,,then from your RF out in your receiver to your RF in in your TV tuner card,,
There is some cards prepared to recieve directly the satellite channel and have Dish in socket,, but more expenive

1. YOU CANNOT WATCH DIFFERENT CHANNELS ON THE SAME DIGITAL RECEIVER I.E THE BLACK BOX
IF YOU WANNA WATCH DIFFERENT CHANNELS YOU WILL NEED TO GET AN EXTRA RECEIVER
2. IF YOUR MEDIA CENTER NOTEPAD HAS A BUILTIN WIRELESS TV TURNER CARD THEN YOU CAN
OTHER WISE YOU WILL HAVE TO PURCHASE
======ASUS Analogue TV Tuner and WIFI-G PCI Add on Card ASTV/WIFIG
ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS CONNECT THE WIRE COMING FROM THE RECEIVER TO THE TV TURNER CARD
AND YOU ARE SET TO GO….
HOPE THIS HELPS

Easiest way is to get software for your pc to view all global tv chanells – i bought from http://www.pctvsoftware.yesgotit.com and wonder why i have a Dish and pay monthly for the privilege.
It’s difficult to find much info on how it all works (very technical) as it is new – the best review i’ll put in the source.
